Fifth Grade Behavior

This year in fifth grade we will continue to use "Capturing Kids Heart"social contracts. Teachers and students will make a contract together in each of the classrooms. It includes things such as being respectful, being honest, being a good listener, etc. If students do not follow the contract set forth when in the classroom, they will receive a behavior sign on the nine weeks calendar. For those at home learners, citizenship will be based on missing/late assignments. Each week, for in person learners, there will be weekly consequences based on the amounts of signs.

 At the end of the nine weeks, infractions will determine their citizenship grade on the report cards. Fifth grade will be using the following scale when determining the citizenship grades.
                                                                             E=0-4 infractions
                                                                             S=5-10 infractions
                                                                             N= 11-15 infractions
                                                                             U= 16+ infractions
                                   **If students are sent to the office, the citizenship grade will
                                           automatically drop one letter grade that nine weeks. It
                                       will also exclude them from any citizenship award.**

Homeroom teachers will attach a note to the planner when a student reaches a number of signs that would warrant a letter grade drop in citizenship grade.

 In fifth grade, we do not require planners to be signed daily. We do expect the blue planner sheet to be signed each weekend.

Flex Friday: Flex Friday is a privilege for the students who have made good choices throughout the week.
  • 30-45 minutes once a week
    • board games
    • playing outside
    • reading
    • enjoying each other's company
Flex Friday is not punishment or punitive, it is a reward for those who earned it. Students who do not earn Flex Friday due to missing work or their behavior for the week, will have an alternate location with specific expectations
  • Missing Work
    • studetns will get caught up on their work during Flex Friday
