Fifth Grade Grading Policy
Grade Weights:
This year in fifth grade, grades will be divided into two categories--assignments and tests.
All Work=100%
(Teachers may count tests/projects more than once at their discretion. )

Assignment Expectations:
Assignments are to be completed when assigned by the teacher. If an assignment must be taken home to finish, or homework is given, the assignment will be due at the time the teacher has designated (see due dates in google classroom). If assignments are not returned on the expected dates, students will receive a signing on their digital calendar. The student will also receive a point deduction on the assignment. The highest grade attainable for late assignments will go as follows.
One class period late=85
Two class periods late=70
Three or more class periods late=50
A "M" will be placed in the gradebook when an assignment is late. The "M" will stay in the gradebook until the assignment is turned in. A "M" will average in as a zero.

Late Work:
We understand that periodically students will become sick, have doctor's appointments, or need to miss class for one reason or another. If a student misses class, all assignments that were assigned previously will be due the day the student returns. If a student is absent when a new assignment is assigned, then the student will need to see the teacher the day they return to school to collect the assignment and get the due date. Students have one day for each day they are absent plus one to complete the new assignments.
